Meet Kelly Brown
I’ve lived in Knoxville for over forty years, creating art inspired by the quiet intelligence of nature. Much of my work draws from organic structures—birds’ nests, beaver dams, and the way natural forms solve problems through balance, tension, and purpose.
While studying as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, I wanted to create art but didn’t have the money for traditional materials. Instead of waiting, I started building with what was freely available—fallen sticks and discarded branches. Those early pieces became my foundation, shaping both my process and philosophy.
Over time, my work has evolved to incorporate a wider range of materials, including wood, metal, and stone, while staying rooted in the same natural inspiration. Each piece reflects a dialogue between raw materials, structure, and the quiet beauty found in the natural world.
